Pirates seized a German freight ship off the coast of Kenya on October 24 2010, the Associated Press reported, citing the German army.
A German army spokesman said the Beluga Fortune freight carrier was seized about 1,200 miles (1,930 km) east of the Kenyan port of Mombasa.
Earlier, the European Union naval anti-piracy force EUNAVFOR confirmed that the Singapore-flagged liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker MV York had been hijacked by pirates off the east African coast.
